Luke Schafer is a 2019 RHP/3B with a 6-3 195 lb. frame from Leawood, KS who attends Rockhurst. Extra large frame with an athletic build. Ran a 7.81 second 60-yard dash. Righthanded pitcher with a small rocker step delivery into a higher leg lift trigger. Works fast and fills the zone. Small circle in the back and release from a high three-quarters slot. Has feel for a three pitch combination. Fastball has slight arm side action as well as some sink working to both sides of the plate. Short 11-to-5 curveball with late depth and a straight deceptive changeup. Also worked out as a secondary infielder. Moves with athletic strides to the ball. Fields out front with soft glove actions. Maintains momentum through a quick transfer. Shows some arm strength across topping at 78 miles per hour. Righthanded hitter with a slightly open stance and high hand set. Utilizes a leg lift trigger for timing. Rotational actions through a line drive plane creating backspin off the barrel. Works mostly to the pull side with occasional jump off the barrel. Excellent student as well. Named to the 2018 Midwest Prospect Showcase Top Prospect List.
