Lane Lawson is a 2019 SS/RHP, 2B, 3B with a 6-1 165 lb. frame from Muscle Shoals, AL who attends Covenant Christian. Medium frame with longer limbs and a lean build. Frame projects for additional strength. Ran a 7.31 sixty-yard dash. Primary shortstop with clean footwork while moving to the baseball. Funnels the baseball well and showed loose exchange while working through transfer. Released from a high three-quarters slot creating on line carry to the bag at 69 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a slightly crouched, even stance and simple leg lift trigger. Works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Loose, extended hand path to contact with a line drive barrel plane to finish. Utilized a mid field to pull side approach and flashed solid jump off the barrel when on time and squared. Also pitched utilizing a short rock step to simple leg lift delivery. Worked through gather quickly and lands at a slightly closed position at stride. Clears hips well while showing an extended three-quarters arm slot. Fastball produced some arm side run with occasional plane in the low to mid 70's, topped at 76 miles per hour. Curveball had 10/4 shape with good sweep to glove side, tends to raise arm slot with breaking ball offering. Also flashed a changeup that hand some tumble to the bottom of the zone in the low 60's. Very good student as well.
