Abe Payne is a 2008 RHP/1B with a 6'2'', 190 lb. frame from Buckley, WA, who attends White River HS. Payne has a large frame with present strength and projectability. On the mound he throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with solid arm action and arm speed. He throws with minimal effort, and stays inline and balanced. Payne gets natural cutting on his fastball at 82 mph and throws it for strikes. Also mixes in a 70 mph curveball with 11 to 5 break, and a 73 mph change up with arm side fade. Mixes his pitches well, and allowed only 1 hit in 3 innings pitched while striking out 4. At the plate he has a good swing from the right side. Payne shows very good bat speed with projectable power. He is short to the ball with strong hands taking aggressive swings on pitches in the zone. Hit a HR in batting practice and showed power and strength in his swing during the games. He plays hard, runs hard and competes on the field. Upside to his game and is an excellent student as well.
