2020 National Indoor Showcase (Saturday)
Matthew Haley is a 2021 RHP/SS with a 6-0 185 lb. frame from Fenton, MO who attends Rockwood Summit. Solid athletic build with good present strength, especially in his hips and lower half. High leg lift delivery with a good hip turn, stays directional well down the mound, long and loose arm action with an extended 3/4's arm slot, pretty low effort mechanics that he repeats well. Fastball pretty much sat at 88 mph during his outing, mostly straight, dropped his slot a few times on his fastball to mid-3/4's with better life and the same velocities. Still developing consistency on his secondary pitch release points, stays on top of his curveball better than his slider. Quality athlete who is a two-way prospect. 7.07 runner in the sixty, has fluid actions in the infield on defense, good footwork and hands with plenty of raw arm strength. Right handed hitter, hits from a wide base with a hanging leg lift load, gets his foot down on time well, lifting swing with some strength at contact. 50/50 whether he develops more as a pitcher or middle infielder. Good student. Named to the National Indoor Showcase Top Prospect Team.
