Charlie Clayton is a 2020 RHP/1B, 3B with a 6-3 175 lb. frame from Bakersfield, CA who attends Liberty. Large frame with strength in build. Ran a 7.72 second 60-yard dash. Primary righthanded pitcher working exclusively from the stretch. Medium leg lift to the belt, working to the plate with drop and drive actions down the mound. Lands in line coming to the plate. Loose arm circle at take back releasing from a high three-quarters arm slot. Fastball topping out at 78 miles per hour shows occasional downhill tilt with run to the arm side. Matches the arm speed well on the changeup that flashed some good sink in the bottom of the zone. Also mixed in a sweeping slider as well as an 11-to-5 curveball. Looks to fill up the zone with developing command of pitches. Also worked out defensively as an outfielder. Deliberate footwork when closing to the ball. Fields the ball to the side with a clean funnel. On line and accurate throws topping out at 78 miles per hour. Also worked out defensively as a first baseman. Attacks the ball while playing through it well. Developing glove actions while flashing range around the bag as well as solid arm strength topping out at 80 miles per hour. Righthanded hitter with a wide base and a high hand set. Slight downward bat path with barrel speed through the zone and a pull side power approach. Excellent student as well.
