Zane Skansi is a 2020 SS/RHP with a 5-9 150 lb. frame from Gig Harbor, WA who attends Gig Harbor HS. Medium frame with a lean build. Projects for additional strength with continued maturity. Primary shortstop with athletic footwork while ranging for and rounding the baseball. Stays low while funneling the baseball out front with fluid actions. Worked through exchange and transfer with polish. Primarily released from a low three-quarters slot but flashed the ability to change arm angle on the run and throw with accuracy. Right handed hitter with an upright, open stance and high back elbow set. Shifts into contact well with linear lower half actions. Direct path to contact with a naturally lifted plane through extension. Flashed good feel for the barrel while utilizing a gap to gap approach. Swing has some fluidity and will continue to develop with continued strength. Also pitched, both left and right handed. Utilized a simple side step delivery and stays balanced on back side. Loose arm circle and released from a three-quarters slot from each side. Fastball flashed some downhill plane with occasional tilt. Showed better velocity from the right side, up to 74 miles per hour, than the left, up to 67 miles per hour. Slider flashed some sweep to glove side flashed tighter rotation as a right handed pitcher. Named to the 2017 Northwest Showcase Top Prospect List.
