2017 Midwest Underclass Showcase
Benjamin Borrman is a 2019 3B/MIF, RHP, OF, C with a 5-9 160 lb. frame from Marine On St. Croix, MN who attends Stillwater. Medium frame with a lean build and wiry strength. Ran a 7.21 sixty-yard dash. Primary third baseman with aggressive, high energy footwork while working to and surrounding the baseball. Funnels from a slightly deeper position and worked through exchange with loose actions. Long arm circle at take back and released from a high three-quarters slot, topped at 87 miles per hour. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing clean, smooth footwork while closing to and working through the baseball. Fluid glove actions at pick up with quick exchanges. Created accurate, on line carry to the bag topping at 88 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an even, balanced stance and simple leg lift trigger. Loose hand path to baseball with a slightly lifted plane through extension. Consistently barreled the baseball while employing a mid field approach. Flashed the feel for the barrel to work the other way as well. Also pitched showing a smooth paced rock step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays flexed on back side and works to the plate with drop and drive actions. Lands in line with the plate and carries momentum to target well. Clean arm circle at take back and released from a three-quarters slot. Fastball jumped out of hand well producing downhill tilt with some heavy run, topped at 84 miles per hour. Curveball had 11/5 shape with tight spin and late depth. Aggressively attacked the strike zone and showed the feel to mix fastball and curveball in both positive and negative counts. Very good student. Named to the 2017 Midwest Underclass Showcase, Top Prospect List.
