Zane Brown is a 2019 LHP/1B, OF with a 6-0 165 lb. frame from Berea, KY who attends Berea Community. Medium frame with a lean build. Frame projects to support additional strength. Primary left handed pitcher with a quick side step delivery. Stays flexed on back side with slight coil over back leg. Worked to the plate with drop and drive lower half actions. Worked over front side well and maintains momentum to the plate. Quick arm circle at take back and released from a three-quarters slot. Fastball created some natural cut to glove side in the low to mid 70's, topped a t75 miles per hour. Curveball had 2/7 shape with some spin and depth in the low 60's. Tends to slow arm speed slightly with breaking ball. Looked to challenge hitters showing developing feel for the zone. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing deliberate actions while closing to and working through the baseball. Stays low while funneling the baseball and maintained momentum to the bag while working through transition. Released from a three-quarters slot created on line carry to the bag at 77 miles per hour. Left handed hitter with a spread, even stance and simple front side trigger. Rotational lower half and employed a slightly lifted barrel plane through extension. Stays inside baseball well and consistently worked to the middle of the field and opposite field gap. Very good student as well.
