John Torroella is a 2019 RHP/OF with a 6-3 170 lb. frame from Ellicott City, MD who attends Mount Saint Joseph. Tall and skinny frame with long limbs and athleticism. Ran a 5.11 second 40 yard dash. Primary righthanded pitcher, simple side step to a high leg lift, long arm action that turns over early through back side up to a high 3/4 slot, drives off of back leg but could get more from lower half for added velocity, creates lots of angle when down in the zone, fastball is straight topping out at 84 mph, really nice breaking ball that has late bite, changeup with lots of fade and maintained arm speed well, lots of strikes and swings and misses during outing, maintains velocity well. Also took reps in the outfield, some quickness moving towards the ball, fields the baseball out in front coming through nicely, compact arm action into throws, solid arm that plays, topped out at 85 mph from the outfield. Righthanded hitter, even stance, bat rests on shoulder, longer swing and gets downhill with path, some quickness to wrists, could utilize lower half more for more weight shift into contact, best when meeting the ball out front, some hard line drives to pull side. Outstanding student.
