Max Luzarraga is a 2025 RHP/1B with a 6-1 210 lb. frame from Matthews, NC who attends Weddington High School. Medium, athletic frame with present strength proportioned well throughout. Right-handed pitcher, turn step into a leg lift up to the belt, athleticism plays in delivery, full arm action through the back with plenty of present arm speed, works up to a high three-quarters release with lots of whip. Fastball jumps out of hand and explodes through the top of the zone, up to 92 mph but upward of 23" of IVB, very good quality and shape through the zone with which he can challenge hitters and miss bats. Pounded the strike zone, showed a solid curveball up to 79 mph which played best when locating down/out to right-handed bats. Intriguing upside on the mound. Left-handed hitter, begins with a wide base and slightly open stance with a high hand set and back elbow in the box. Movement to hands at start of swing, incorporates physical strength well and showed plenty of comfort turning on baseballs deep to the pull side. Excellent student. Verbal commitment to Dallas Baptist.
