2021 Rocky Mountain Workout Showcase
Derek Lukes is a 2022 C/RHP, 3B with a 6-1 205 lb. frame from Parker, CO who attends Ponderosa. He has a big frame with a strong build. Ran the sixty yard dash in 7.65 seconds. Primary catcher that starts in an open stance and pops up on his throws. He has a chest high transfer and a medium arm action. He made strong, accurate throws, showing the arm strength from behind the plate. Secondary third baseman that has solid footwork to both sides of his body. He showed quick hands and the ability to throw from multiple arm slots. Also worked out in the outfield, fielding the ball out front and firing with a whippy arm and similar arm strength that he showed behind the plate. Right-handed hitter that starts with an even base that is slightly open. He has a shorter swing path and a physical swing. He showed the ability to impact the ball out in front of the plate and utilizes his lower half well. Excellent student. Named to the Rocky Mountain Workout Showcase Top Prospect List.
