2006 Holiday Open
Alexis Gonzalez is a C/IF from Bayamon, Puerto Rico with a 5'11", 175 lb. frame. Alexis has a well developed athletic body. At the plate he proved to be one of the top hitting prospects at the showcase. With a sound approach at the plate, Alexis showed a quick bat with a level swing plane that produced hard line drives to the power alleys. When he keeps his weight loaded on the back side, his power potential greatly increases. Behind the plate Alexis features a very quick release, and an accurate arm that consistently produced pop times around 2.10. Alexis currently has the ability to take his game to the next level, and with continued improvement he should become a solid catcher at the next level.
