2020 South Top Prospect Games at Texas A&M
Troy Johnson is a 2021 SS/OF with a 6-0 175 lb. frame from Corpus Christi, TX who attends Ray HS. An excellent student, who is unquestionably ready for the academic rigor at the next level, Troy is also a solid prospect who shows advanced athleticism on the baseball field. A Davidson commit, the strong armed infielder shows the ability to make the routine plays with confidence. He fields the ball out front with soft hands and transitions to an unbelievably strong, 94 mph arm. His lateral quickness is commendable and should allow him to make the transition to college with relative ease. Although not a big bopper at the plate, Troy does show bat speed and sound quickness in and with his operation. He is more of a middle of the field, contact-first guy, who uses his foot speed to his advantage. He will certainly add to his batting average and on-base percentage with his plus run tool. He will add strength and an ability to drive the baseball as he physically matures. Although HR production will probably not be in his game in the near future, he will eventually have that in his arsenal.
