James Whitaker is a 2025 RHP/OF with a 6-3 200 lb. frame from Las Vegas, NV who attends Bishop Gorman. Nice athletic build with good present strength and some length. Has a standard side step/leg raise delivery that he repeats well. Fastball topped out at 93 mph and sat 90-91 mph, low spin 4-seam fastball that was mostly straight, pounds the strike zone with the fastball and can throw it to spots, mixed in some two-seamers that had big running movement up to 16" horizontal. Threw a sweeping curveball for his breaking ball. Change up was a solid pitch with nice fading action, doubled up on a right handed hitter with the change for a strikeout. Sum of the parts strike thrower with an idea on the mound. Excellent student, verbal commitment to Louisiana State.
