Preston Cunha is a 2021 OF/RHP with a 5-10 170 lb. frame from North Providence, RI who attends La Salle Academy. Large, broad shouldered build with present strength to frame, additional room to grow moving forward. Ran a 7.70 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder, fields the ball out front and moves well to and through the ball, deliberate tempo to actions, occasionally gets under the ball at release, full arm action through the back, shows accurate to intended bag, arm strength and carry will continue to develop. Also pitched, steady tempo to delivery, gets taller on backside with a leg lift up to belt; similar full a rm action through the back working to an extended three-quarters release point. Strides on line, fastball topped out at 74 mph with short running life, pitched to contact and flashed a curveball with 12-6 shape at 60 mph. Righthanded hitter, begins with a slightly open and tall stance with a high hand set and back elbow at the plate. Upper body dominant swing and can continue to implement additional lower half into shift, does a nice job of getting on line moving into contact. Creates some loft to swing at point of contact nad looks to lift, stays shorter with swing and keeps hands inside the ball with a full finish. Good student.
