Drew Charney is a 2023 C/3B/OF with a 5-10 190 lb. frame from Minnetonka, MN who attends Hopkins. Prototypical catcher's build with strength throughout and especially in his lower half. Right handed hitter, hits from a straight stance with very good use of his strong lower half, starts with his hands tight and drives them hard at the ball, swings with intent and has the bat speed to make loud hard contact, has some lift and pull power in his approach, will over swing at times. 7.44 runner in the sixty. Primary catcher, showed soft hands and good overall flexibility behind the plate defensively, plenty of arm strength but will learn to shorten and quicken his exchange and release. Also played the outfield and showed both his athleticism and arm strength there. Good student. Named to the Spring Atlantic Coast Showcase Top Prospect List.
