Casey Kelly is a 2008 SS/OF with a 6'3'', 190 lb. frame from Sarasota FL, who attends Sarasota HS. He has an excellent athletic build, with long levers and very good present strength. Kelly was named to the Top Prospect Team. He's an outstanding all around athlete who is a national level football quarterback and plays baseball with easy actions and a relaxed gait. Kelly moves well for a big player at 6.91. His defensive tools project best at third base. His infield actions are long and smooth and he has plus arm strength with smooth hands and above average body control. Offensively, Kelly has a comfortable set up with good loading action and a long, powerful swing. The ball jumps off his bat and Kelly shows big time power potential. As with his defense, Kelly does things easily and without a lot of effort. All the tools are there for Kelly to be a top level baseball prospect. It will be interesting to see how things evolve with football and how the scouts could effect that this spring.
