Zachary Markin is a 2020 SS/RHP with a 5-9 175 lb. frame from Colona, IL who attends United Twp. Medium frame with square shoulders and room to add. Ran a 7.35 second 60-yard dash. Worked out defensively as a primary shortstop. Aggressive close to the ball with clean footwork on approach. Fields out front with both hands. Has some quickness to transfers with a long release from a compact slot. Moves well to the backhand with soft hands and smooth pivots. Creates some carry across the diamond topping out at 79 miles per hour. Lefthanded hitter with a very open stance to start and a toe tap trigger for timing. Swings with an uphill plane into contact. Works to the pull side with rotational hips and long through extension. Will get thrown off with timing at times but will square the ball up when getting into rhythm. Can produce jump off the barrel when squaring up contact. Secondary righthanded pitcher with a small side step delivery into high leg lift. Lands in line down the mound with drop and drive actions to the plate. Clean arm action at hand break into a high three-quarter slot. Fastball shows some heavy action through the zone topping out at 78 miles per hour. Shows a curveball with a 10-to-4 shape with some sharp sweeping movement. Also flashed a sinking changeup at times at 70 miles per hour. Good student as well.
