Matthew McCray is a 2022 SS/RHP/IF with a 5-8 150 lb. frame from Cape Carteret, NC who attends Croatan. Medium height and a proportioned and athletic frame. Ran a 6.90 in the sixty yard dash. A primary infielder, good timing and works his feet through the ball well. Solid glove placement and took good angles to both sides while changing arm angles on throws with accuracy. A secondary pitcher, full wind up with a long leg swing to lift that adds deception. Solid rhythm and synch with a clean stroke on the back and 3/4 release and some cut on the fastball. Showed a sweeping breaking projects well as his secondary offering. A right-handed hitter, starts even and open and strides closed helping to stay on the ball. Uses his base well and swings around the spine keeping a good vertical bat angle, projects for lift and comes off hard when squared. Good student.
