2023 Sunshine West Showcase
Jake Despain is a 2024 3B/RHP/OF with a 5-11 185 lb. frame from Hawthorne, CA who attends Mira Costa. Sturdy strong build, pretty mature physically. 6.88 runner in the sixty, as run down to 6.66 at PG events in the past. Primary third baseman on defense, circles the ball well and has some lower half quickness, moves well to his left, charges the ball well with good balance, good arm strength over the top and can lower his slot well on the run with good accuracy. Also worked out in the outfield with solid arm strength there as well. Right handed hitter, hits from an exaggerated open start with a hanging leg raise load, short and direct swing, has strong hands and a quick bat but can get off timing at times with his set up and load, swung the bat the best in games and had good jump off the barrel. Good student. Named to the Sunshine West Showcase Top Prospect List.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
