2004 Underclass National Showcase
Chris Kirk -- Kirk is a physically mature 6-2 southpaw from Pennsylvania with a polished approach to pitching. He showed us a 79-81 mph fastball ball during four quick innings of work. It was a FB that he would cut sometimes and turn over at others. Kick wasn’t afraid to pitch inside and impressed us with his ability to spot and move the ball. Kick’s curveball has good sweeping action at 66-69 mph and is a good compliment to his fastball. He also threw a couple of change ups late but this is an obvious area that he can add to his skill set. His delivery and arm action has some deception to it and his fastball looked a bit faster than the gun readings. College coaches should definitely keep an eye on this youngster. He’s a very good student.
