Johnny Checheris is a 2023 RHP/1B, 3B, OF with a 6-1 195 lb. frame from Chanhassen, MN who attends Chanhassen. Recorded a 7.72 second sixty yard dash time. Big frame and thick build with definite strength present. Primary right-handed pitcher with a longer arm action, shows the ball behind his back and creates good separation. High intent thrower with an intriguing three-pitch mix. Showed a solid changeup that he tunnels well and keeps the same arm speed on. Flashed an impressive slider with tight and sharp bite and substantial sweep across the zone. Will get vertical at times and show more drop to the motion, projects as a swing and miss pitch. High upside on the mound given the quality secondaries and velocity potential. Secondary first baseman, fields out front with two hands and has an idea of the footwork. Clean round overall, can get the job done. Left-handed hitter with an even base and a low hand set, utilizes a toe tap trigger and a big stride forward into contact. Noisy operation overall and gets off balance at times but can really impact the ball to his pull side. Swings with intent and has the ability to elevate, produced plenty loud contact during his round and there is obvious strength in the swing. Will improve as the operation becomes more repeatable, has intriguing power projection. Excellent student. Named to the 2021 Fall Midwest Workout Showcase Top Prospect List.
