Eric Dorton is a 2008 OF/P/MIF with a 6'2'', 165 lb. frame from Alamogordo, NM who attends Alamogordo HS. Dorton has a lean and slender athletic build. He is a very good runner at 6.57 in the 60 and has quick feet on the bases and getting in position on defense. His throws in the outfield have very good carry and accuracy and he gets rid of the ball quickly. Dorton hits from a bent kneed stance with a wide base at the plate and has a contact oriented swing. He has quick hands. He stays inside pitches well that he can handle and moves the ball around the field. He will develop better bat speed as he gains additional strength and more lower half involvement in his swing. Overall, Dorton has the tools, especially body life and speed, to develop into a top of the list prospect and he projects. He is a very good student.
