Owen Hicks is a 2025 SS/RHP with a 6-3 180 lb. frame from Iowa City, IA who attends City High. A taller & lean frame with a slender build. Long limbs throughout. Ran a 7.49 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop who had a clean funnel to the chest with a shorter arm action through a lower release. Threw 82 mph across the infield during his round of throws. Accurate across with some arm strength to pair. He's a right-handed hitter with an even base in an upright stance. He keeps the weight on his backside with higher-set hands hand a high back elbow. He was quick with the bat and had some hand speed through contact. He was able to drive it out front and pick up some hits on line drives to left field and center field. Simple and quiet load that allowed him to stay on time through the round well. Added a hit in-game as well. Took to the mound as a right-handed pitcher, sidestepping into a leg lift up around the belt, throwing from a lower three-quarters arm slot. He has a long, loose, and whippy arm stroke through release. The fastball was up to 81 mph and had a ton of arm-side run. He created some deception with his arm slot and missed barrels with the fastball. Showed a low-70s curveball with some depth to it, showing 11-5 shape. Missed some barrels for a clean inning of work, adding a punchout to his credit. Great student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
