2020 Sunshine Showcase at Prasco Park
Alexander Wright is a 2022 3B/RHP/OF with a 6-1 170 lb. frame from Indianapolis, IN who attends Cathedral. Long athletic build with lots of physical projection remaining. Left handed hitter, hits from a narrow stance with a still high elbow start, keeps his swing short and direct, showed better bat speed in the games than in batting practice and was aggressive attacking the ball and showing his swing leverage and power potential. 7.23 runner, showed good arm strength and carry on his throws, soft hands at the ball, solid tools to develop for third base. Also pitched, works from the stretch with a high energy delivery, gets coiled with a high leg raise at the top of his delivery, high 3/4's arm slot, will spin off out front at times and cut off his extension. Worked in the low 80's with his fastball, topped out at 82 mph, worked almost exclusively with his fastball. His one curveball showed tightness and bite and was a promising pitch to develop. Outstanding student.
