Janluis Sierra is a 2021 SS/RHP with a 5-10 160 lb. frame from Yonkers, NY who attends George Washington Educational Campus. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and some present strength proportioned throughout frame. Ran a 7.03 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, works low moving towards the ball, fields it out front, longer strides on the charge, works with a short arm action and a tight release, can incorporate additional lower and footwork through release. Also pitched, works exclusively out of the stretch, leg lift up past belt with a slight hip turn at top; lands closed and works across body. Works to a three-quarters release point, fastball topped out at 72 mph, shows cutting life from release, can incorporate additional lower half into drive down the mound. Pitched to contact, mixed a curveball with 11-5 shape and short life when on top, up to 65 mph. Righthanded hitter, begins with an even stance and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; utilizes a subtle leg lift load for timing. Full swing path through the zone and shows looseness to swing, contact oriented approach and gets extended out front. Occasionally gets to front side early, shows a handle for the barrel. Good student.
