2020 Atlantic Coast Prospect Showcase
Matthew McGovern is a 2024 OF/SS with a 5-9 140 lb. frame from Chester, VA who attends Thomas Dale. Slender young build with plenty of physical development remaining. Right handed hitter, hits from a very spread start with a busy hand load, hands can get mistimed with all the movement, showed good barrel control when on time and moved the ball around the field, bat speed will continue to improve with additional strength. Very good runner for his age and size, 6.81 in the sixty. Primary outfielder who showed good overall actions and athleticism on defense, works through the ball with good footwork, exchange and release is athletic and fluid, arm works well and projects to keep adding strength. Also played the infield. Excellent student.
