Ian Taylor is a 2027 RHP/UT with a 6-0 165 lb. frame from Chesapeake, VA who attends Western Branch. Medium current frame with emerging physicality for a young athlete and plenty of time to add more. Ran the 60 yard dash in 7.74 seconds. Primary position RHP, using the full windup from the 1B side of the rubber. Quick side step to abbreviated leg lift and drops hands to the belly where he breaks into a deeper offline arm path. Gains good distance down the slope and accelerates through an over the top arm angle. Easy delivery, working fast and filling up the strike zone at a high level. Quality 3-pitch mix starting with his low-70s FB with sinking action to the arm side. Low-60s CB with vertical depth that he made a factor in game action and CH became a real weapon as outing progressed generating swing and miss. Has a good idea what he's doing on the bump. Reps on the IF, showing some range as he worked his reps methodically and made the routine play. RHH starting with a more narrow and slightly crouched stance with a tight handset out in front of his torso. Quiet pre-pitch action and moves into his swing. Strength at impact and emerging overall barrel feel. Young athlete with a lot of time to develop who is an outstanding student as well.
