Augie Lopez is a 2024 C/1B/OF with a 6-1 185 lb. frame from Hermosa Beach, CA who attends Loyola. Ran a 7.29 60-yd dash. Features a well-proportioned frame with squared shoulders and present strength throughout the build. Behind the plate, he showed solid catch/throw ability where he got out the crouch well with a quick/compact exchange. Arm showed quality strength at 77 mph where he showed a shorter/wristy AA with accurate throws to the bag. Solid receiver as well were he keeps himself quiet, minimizing body/glove movement. At the plate, he sits in a relaxed and open stance. Slight rock back in his load where he drifts forward into contact. There’s easy looseness to the hands that load in rhythm and that throw the barrel with intent to catch and impact the baseball out front on a slight uphill bat path. Verbal commitment to USC.
