Luke Channell is a 2028 1B/LHP/OF with a 5-10 170 lb. frame from Birmingham, AL who attends Oak Mountain. Channell ran a 8.07 Sixty Yard Dash. Primary first baseman with a medium athletic frame with strength present throughout. Very athletic mover , fielding the ball cleanly in the center of his body with a quick glove to hand transfer into an efficient hip turn. The air slot is lower on the throws with some cary and accuracy to the bases. Secondary outfielder with a quick first step to the ball with a one handed funnel into a clean compact arm stroke with some quickness within the shoulder. On the mound the left hander works a slower operation with a hip height leg lift extending the front side upon release. The fastball sits in the high 70s as he peaks at 79mph with late arm side run. He mixes in a SL with some late bite and swing and miss ability. He showed a true sense on how to mix two pitches in the zone efficiently. Left handed hitter in the box with a wide slightly open base. He creates a short stride into contact working a linear path through the zone deriving the ball hard on a line to the middle of the field. Luke was named to the 2024 Deep South All State Games Top Prospect List.
