2003 South Top Prospect Showcase
Waller is a tough catcher with a solid build and an attitude that will separate him from others with comparable tools. He showed a good competitive drive to go along with some outstanding ability in Waco. He popped a 1.96 with 78 mph velocity. He has a durable body and showed good focus throughout the weekend long competition. At 6 foot 1 and 220 pounds he has a big strong frame and he utilizes the strong legs as a receiver and a hitter. He showed some nice power with wood and can flat out hit live pitching. He played extra innings for an injured catcher one day and battled on the mound at the end of the showcase for an injured pitcher showing a good high level of ability in scorching 100 degree heat. He still managed to pitch between 81-84 mph and showed a good 70 mph breaking ball. He must have sweat a gallon of water and seemed to get better as he went along. He wouldn't let anything by him as a catcher and one shot that he hit onto the left gap was a rocket off a lively 87 mph fastball. He is a top catcher who could easily become a very nice draft pick by next June. He can play for any college in America. Cody is also a top level student. !
