JP Elbert is a 2027 C/IF with a 6-1 195 lb. frame from Dubuque, IA who attends Wahlert. Big and strong athletic build. Right handed hitter, sets up in a slightly open stance with a high hand load and a hanging leg lift timer, can be late getting his foot down at times, has easy bat speed and the ability to drive the ball hard gap to gap when he's on time. 7.08 runner in the sixty. Primary catcher on defense, sets up one knee down, athletic coming out of his crouch with on line footwork, compact and quick transfers, very good arm strength and made accurate throws, efficient and polished mechanics that he repeats well. Also worked out in the infield with third base actions, has athletic actions here as well with range and soft hands, big arm strength, changed slots well, was under control at all times. Could become a defensive standout at either catcher or third base. Excellent student. Named to the Midwest Indoor Showcase Top Prospect List.
