Whitman Key is a 2025 C/RHP, 2B, SS, OF with a 5-8 125 lb. frame from Marion, AR who attends West Memphis Christian. He ran a 7.87 second sixty. A primary catcher with a younger medium frame. Behind the plate he gets into a deep stance and showed the ability to get it out quick with his transfer, he gains ground with a long stride taking some time to get the foot back down to throw the ball. In the outfield he takes shorter steps to ball on his approach as he works into a crow hop with a long arm action getting to an over the top arm slot. On the infield he receives the ball with a wide base showing firmer hands out front but some feel for the back hand and working into the throw. On the mound he has more of a deliberate delivery with the leg lifting up to the belt and the arm working deep into the back and then up to a high three-quarters arm slot, the stride lands slightly open coming down the mound with the fastball sitting 64-67 mph and working it around the zone. He also landed a curveball with young traits getting some depth. Right-handed hitter, starts slightly open and stride to closed as he triggers the swing. The bat path showed developing bat speed working up hill to the inside part of the ball as he shift his weight into contact using the pull side mostly. Excellent student.
