Alex Cappellucci is a 2023 SS with a 5-8 140 lb. frame from Newington, CT who attends Newington. Young, square shouldered frame with a lean and projectable frame, has room to grow physically moving forward. Ran a 7.19 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, fields the ball out front, glove plays at the ball on the backhand and works through it, shorter arm action on throws across, deliberate tempo to actions, showed well on the charge, accurate throws on to first base. Righthanded hitter, begins with a spread stance and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; limited weight shift through lower half moving into contact. Wrapped barrel at start, works on a linear plane through the zone, creates line drive contact around the field, bat speed projects with added strength. Contact oriented approach, can implement additional lower half weight shift. Very good student.
