Zack Banks is a 2008 C with a 5'8'', 145 lb. frame from Pasco WA, who attends Pasco HS. He has a compact build on an average size frame. It is clear that Banks works hard at the game and loves to play. He has solid fundamental abilities, both offensively and defensively. Time will tell how his raw tools develop, but he does know how to play the game. Offensively he takes an aggressive swing. He starts with an Albert Pujols-type set-up. From there his hands work well, staying inside through contact and allowing him to make a lot of hard, middle of the field contact. Banks got to the pull side easily too. Defensively he is an accurate thrower and has a decent transfer, with patient footwork, resulting in consistent pop times. He is a good receiver, blocks well, and works hard behind the plate. Banks is a strong student as well and was his varsity team defensive MVP during his sophomore year.
