Ryan Walters is a 2008 RHP/OF/1B with a 6'1'', 165 lb. frame from San Jose CA, who attends Valley Christian HS. He has a lanky, flexible body type, with room to fill out. It is the type of body that suggests some projection of his ability. Walters has a sling type arm action that works cleanly from a high 3/4 slot. He gets decent frontside extension which results in some length of his stuff through the zone. His fastball topped at 81 but had some late life. Walters showed good control with his curveball (72 mph) and was able to drop it in the zone with feel. He is a strike thrower with some feel and he pitches to contact. His change-up is also a good pitch and rounds out a solid three pitch mix repertoire. At the plate Walters showed a seen and hit it approach, spraying the ball to all fields and keeping it simple. He is an outstanding student and should continue to make steady improvements on the mound. College programs should keep an eye on him.
