2006 Southeast Top Prospect Showcase
Greg Adams is a 2007 1B/P with a 5'10'', 180 lb. frame from Canton GA, who attends Cherokee HS. He has a medium frame with some present strength. Adams is an agile athlete who if he was right handed would probably be a second base type. He's a 6.95 runner and probably profiles best as an outfielder, but Adams is a very good defensive first baseman, with quick actions and good hands, and is likely a big asset at first. Offensively, Adams sets up well at the plate and gets himself in a balanced position to hit. He tends to be tentative getting the bat started. He did a good job of keeping his swing short and making consistent contact but getting a trigger and some rhythm into his swing will improve his ability to drive the ball. Adams also took a turn on the mound and threw 78 mph on his fastball with good running life. He has a very deceptive delivery and arm action and hitters looked like they had a tough time seeing the ball. Adams 68 mph curveball had good bite to it and Adams threw it often, to good effect.
