Fernando Gonzalez is a 2027 OF/RHP/2B with a 5-9 130 lb. frame from Mission, TX who attends Sharyland Pioneer. Slender young build with lots of room and time to get stronger. 6.99 runner in the sixty. Primary outfielder on defense, has a loose and whippy arm from a lower arm slot, gets over his front side well and makes accurate throws, fields the ball to the side and can be more aggressive working through the ball. Right handed hitter, gets into his lower half well and clears his hips, was well timed and had hitting rhythm, shows some bat speed for his size and age, line drive swing plane with contact to all fields. Also pitched, works from the stretch with an early separation and a deep arm take away in back, gets some drive down the mound, clean arm action from a high 3/4's arm slow. Fastball topped out at 80 mph with good life down in the zone and some ride up. Tended to slow his arm on his curveball but created nice spin and big downer depth at times. Nice young athlete who is going to keep improving as he gets bigger and stronger. Very good student.
