Derick Bonilla is a 2023 SS/OF with a 5-9 150 lb. frame from Yauco, PR who attends Albergue Olímpico Baseball Academy. Smaller frame with a lean and athletic build. Ran a 7.03 second 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, shows good feel moving laterally, smooth glove work at all angles, works through it well and releases cleanly with good arm strength into the low-80s across. Also worked out in the outfield, athleticism shows in a methodical approach, rounds the ball and shows excellent accuracy on throws to bags. Right-handed hitter, sets up even and in line with a simple load; has a long and loose swing as he works level through the zone with some bat speed, found the barrel well throughout his round and projects well as he adds more strength to the frame. Good student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
