Charlie Thompson is a 2029 SS/RHP/IF with a 5-8, 140 lb. frame from Fort Mill, SC who attends Fort Mill High School. He is a 7.99 runner in the sixty. On the mound, he works from a side step into a leg lift delivery with a compact, quick arm action out of a tight high three-quarters slot. He hides the ball well, creating late life on the fastball that gets on hitters in a hurry. He keeps the arm speed the same on the changeup with late fading action, and the curveball has sweeping shape with developing depth. He shows the ability to mix pitches and work around the zone with confidence. In the infield, he has athletic actions with active feet and fine glove work. He shows range to both sides, makes plays on the move, and has the ability to change arm slots when needed. His throws carry across the diamond with improving accuracy, and he shows the instincts and feel to stay in the middle of the field. Offensively, the right-handed hitter starts from a wider, balanced stance with quick hands and a high finish through contact. He generates bat speed with rotation and shows signs of projectable strength as he continues to develop physically. There’s athleticism in the frame and the tools to keep improving with added strength and maturity. Excellent student with a 5.0 GPA.
