Benicio Borbon is a 2024 C/RHP with a 5-7 150 lb. frame from Hacienda Heights, CA who attends Los Altos. He ran a 7.65 second sixty. A primary catcher with a medium build. Behind the plate he starts in a side straddle and showed longer actions throughout his mechanics as he received the ball and gained ground into his throws with a 2.27 second pop time, receiving the ball he has soft hands and showed some ability to work around the baseball and present it back toward the middle of the plate. On the mound he showed a longer arm action working mostly from a high three-quarters arm slot, the slider has mostly horizontal movement and plays off of the fastball which sat 67-69 mph with occasional arm side run, he also showed a changeup at 63 mph that will get better movement when he gets on top of it and extend out front. Right-handed hitter, starts with an even base using a rigid stride to trigger the swing, the barrel works steep into the zone throwing the hands at the ball, he will create better carry with more extension and use of the lower half.
