Jake Burns is a 2028 RHP/1B/IF with a 5-9 145 lb. frame from Gate City, VA who attends Gate City. Solid frame with a taller and lean current build and plenty of time to add more physicality. Ran the 60 yard dash in 7.79 seconds. Primary position RHP, working from the full windup and the middle of the rubber using big side step and leg lift to the belly. Shallow inline arm path accelerating through a very low 3/4 arm angle. Stays within himself and pumps strikes with FB up to 65 mph inducing a lot of soft contact. Developing off speed pitch as a slider right now. Secondary IF, working around the ball to create good angles. Bends at the waist a bit, presents glove out front and clean. Lower arm angle here as well. Reps in the outfield too with similar action and flashed throws up to 67 mph back to the bags. RHH starting even, upright and using small stride to get moving. High to low hands with an upper Boyd dominant swing. Tends to work the bottom of the ball due to letting hands leak but play very well in game action. Several hard barrels and hard line out to center field. Young athlete and it will be interesting to see where his talent takes him.
