Jayden Martinez is a 2028 SS/RHP/2B with a 5-9 150 lb. frame from Buda, TX who attends Buda Johnson. Primary MIF with a lean and athletic frame. Moves well to the ball and takes a quick first step. Showed good lateral range and got to the backhand nicely. Uses a 2 hand gather and funnel to chest working up the middle with feel to work around it. Showed a clean transfer and release with an adjustable slot. Made throws with good accuracy and was up to 73 from across the diamond. Should continue to develop arm strength but has the fundamentals down and showed good feel on the dirt in general. Also pitched throwing from a steep OTT slot. Fastball worked up to 78 and was located well within the zone. Fastball played firm and got late swings. Went to a curve with heavy 11-5 shape. Also mixed in a slider with more sweep to it. Good feel for both offerings. Right-handed hitter with a narrow upright base. Hands rear back on the load. Uses a medium sized leg lift and stride into contact for timing and rhythm. Can get into lower half more. Has a quick set of hands and rotates well top half of things. Showed good bat speed and strong ability to clear the hips from an uphill swing path. Good feel to go the other way with authority. Worked quality at-bats in game and profiles well as a contact hitter. Good Student.
