Samuel Smith is a 2029 RHP/C/IF with a 6-2 215 lb. frame from Bonham, TX who attends Lovejoy. Ran a 7.92 sixty-yard dash. Works from a lengthy frame with room to fill, appearing in the infield, at catcher, and at first base during defensive workouts. Showcased a corner profile on the infield dirt, displaying strong glove work and a strong arm, reaching 83. Maneuvered well around the bag at first with quick transfers and pivots, reaching 83 across the diamond. Starts with a squared setup behind the dish, working well out of the transfer, producing pop times as low as 2.02 and throws up to 75. At the plate, he starts with a wide base and high hands, utilizing a simple leg lift to get into position. Produced exit velocities up to 92. On the mound, he works exclusively from the stretch, getting down the mound via a belt-high leg lift and low three-quarters slot. Worked a lively fastball up to 87, maintaining the mid-80s. Mixed in a vertical curveball with late bite and a late-fading change-up. Good student.
