Matthew Ortiz is a 2026 OF/RHP, 2B, MIF, IF, UT with a 5-7 120 lb. frame from Fontana, CA who attends Henry J. Kaiser. Small frame. On the mound, its a stretch only operation with tall and fall mechanics. Belt high leg lift, minimal stride or extension. Three-quarters arm slot. Average arm speed for the size. Fastball shows good arm side run. Slider has real spin and he showed the ability to execute the offering in all counts, good pitch that should continue to improve as he matures physically. In the outfield, he works direct to the ball, fielding out front. Long slow arm action with uphill release. Should get on top more as he adds strength to drive the throws. Despite the uphill release, he shows good feel to deliver long hop accurate throws to both bases. Right-handed hitter, medium base and high back elbow. Initial move is a big dive forward that creates separation. Bat path is level through impact but shows limited adjustability. Found soft line drive contact through the middle but needs to add physically. 7.28 60-yard. Good Student.
