Palanzuela is a switch-hitting first baseman from south Florida with a very strong and well developed athletic body. He may have developed his frame a bit too much, as he has some stiffness that ideally could be worked out of his upper body and swing, but Palanzuela is fast and strong right now as a junior. Palanzuela took his best swings from the left side. He hits out of a no stride approach from both sides and uses his hands well to stay short and quick to the ball. His raw power is generated by strength rather than extension. Defensively, Palanzuela showed good agility around first base and will have more range than most first sackers. Below average arm strength limits his defensive options despite his speed.
