2023 West Coast Top Prospect Games
Michael Gray is a 2025 SS/RHP with a 6-2 200 lb. frame from Rancho Santa Margarita, CA who attends Trabuco Hills. Big and strong athletic build. 7.22 runner in the sixty. Primary shortstop on defense, profiles more as a third baseman moving forward, arm strength is his best defensive tool, gets very good carry on his throws, hands are fine when his feet are under him. Left handed hitter, hits from a narrow open stance with a simple hand load, well timed swing, has a lofted swing path with lots of strength at contact, works gap to gap for the most part but can drive the ball deep when he turns on it, lots of hard game barrels. Also pitched, works from a semi-wind up delivery with drop and drive lower half mechanics to the plate, arm action is short and compact from a high 3/4's slot, hides the ball well. Fastball worked mostly in the low 80's and topped out at 85 mph, pitched down in the zone consistently with his fastball with occasional running life. Slider was a good pitch for him, gets late bite and tilt and created some uncomfortable swing/miss by hitters. Solid all around player. Good student. Named to the West Coast Top Prospect Games Top Prospect List.
