2023 Fall Midwest Workout Showcase
Declan Boyce is a 2027 RHP/3B, SS, OF with a 5-11 170 lb. frame from Naperville, IL who attends Naperville Central. Recorded a 7.78 second sixty yard dash time. Taller frame with athleticism. Right-handed pitcher works from a shorter stride with some cross fire. Coils and uncoils the lower half well to work downhill from the mound with a higher three- quarter arm slot. Solid arm speed with a full arm swing. The fastball (1377 RPM) worked in the low-to-mid 70s and reached 75 with some arm side run. The fastball has some life and carry. Also showed a curveball (1577 RPM) with 11-5 shape and some vertical depth. Doesn't always finish the curveball and can leave it up in the zone. Also flashed a change-up (1250 RPM) with some fade and develop feel to locate it in the zone. Worked the edges of the plate well. Solid on the mound with a two-pitch mix at this time with the potential for a nice third offering. Also worked out in the infield. Moves well and feet carry him with some momentum going up the middle. Throws were accurate to first with some arm strength. Right-handed hitter starts from a more upright stance and real high hand set with a high back elbow. Creates separation with good hands and an uphill swing path. Wants to get to the ball out front with a rotational swing and a pull-heavy approach. Was able to generate some impact in the air to the pull-side. Young player with good upside. Great student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
