2024 Sunshine Mid-South Showcase (Tues-Wed) (06/04/2024 - 06/05/2024)

Wednesday Game Highlights >>

6/5/2024 4:33:07 PM

Maximus Bates (2025 IF, Vancleave, MS) showed some potential on both sides of the ball in this one. The right-handed started on the bump for team Royal, going two innings with four strikeouts. He is a crafty pitcher who mixed speeds and arm angles to keep hitters off balance. The left-handed hitter also made an impact at the plate. In the first inning, he got on plane with a high fastball and squared it up, sending a line drive single into right field. Once on base, he single-handedly produced a run for his team, as he stole all three bases.

Cooper Bierman (2026 3B, Olive Branch, MS) showed plenty of things to like yesterday as a position player, flashing smooth and fluid actions in the infield and some power at the plate. He decided to hop on the mound today and was impressive there as well, running his fastball up to 84 with arm side life. The right-hander had a sharp slider to his arsenal that he threw with conviction and induced whiffs with.

Even though he listed as a primary pitcher, Bradley Stubbs (2026 RHP, Collierville, TN) showed some real promise as a two-way talent this week. For starters, he was 89 across the IF yesterday and displayed some bat speed at the plate. He added a well-struck single in today's game and flashed the leather at third base, showing athleticism by making a nice charging play to get the runner at first.

Mason Little (2028 3B, Gulfport, MS) is a talented young player who showed plenty to like this week. He hopped on the mound in this one and continued to excel against older competition. The right-hander has a live arm, running his fastball up to 81 mph. He got quick outs during his outing and flashed a breaker at 65 mph.

Reagan Caraway (2027 OF, Amarillo, TX) made an impact with the bat in today's contest, smacking an RBI double in the seventh inning, which would go on to be one of the game's only extra-base hits. He pulled his hands through and sent a ground ball right down the left-field line for an easy, stand-up double.

Tuesday Game Highlights >>

6/4/2024 12:00:00 AM

Clayton Speck (2026 SS, Germantown, TN) provided a solid secondary pitcher look in this one. The right-hander was throwing a heavy fastball at 78-80 mph. He repeats very well with good presence on the bump, and he flashed a breaker at 68 mph that he used as his out pitch, throwing it with confidence.

Griffin Whitmore (2025 RHP, Saint Charles, AR) put together a quality start for the Black team, going three strong innings with four strikeouts and generating weak contact all-around. The 6-foot, 175-pounder has a long and lanky frame with plenty of room to fill, and he was operating in the 78-80 mph range with good life to his fastball. Whitmore is an intriguing athlete and also ran a 6.61 second 60 yard dash earlier today.

Bradley Stubbs (2026 RHP, Collierville, TN) is a projectable young arm who showed some things to like on the mound, striking out five batters in three innings. The right-hander located the fastball well at 81-83 mph from an athletic operation. He has a quick shoulder and garnered a couple of strikeouts on his tight slider.

Rollin Crose (2026 OF, Germantown, TN) is a crafty lefty that showed a nice three-pitch mix and advanced feel to sequence. He mixed speeds and locations with ease, flashing a fastball up to 79 mph and a sharp curveball with 1-7 shape. He displayed lots of feel to turn over and sell a low-70s changeup, too. In addition to his performance on the mound, he also pulled a line drive single into right field later in the game.

Landon Swinney (2027 OF, Belden, MS) is a strong and athletic young player who showed very well at the plate today. The right-handed hitter collected two base knocks on the day. His first was a hard-hit single into left field, and his second was a triple down the left field line that scored two. Swinney is a projectable player and we are excited to see his performance tomorrow.

Ethan Reese (2025 OF, Hulbert, OK) showed some real intriguing stuff on the mound in this contest. He ran his fastball up to 88 mph and has high spin across the board. His fastball clocks in a spin rate of over 2600 RPMs, with the curveball coming in at over 2800 RPMs. He flashed a nasty splitter as well, displaying great depth and getting swings and misses with it.
