John Wolk is a 2024 OF/LHP, 1B with a 6-0 185 lb. frame from Phoenix, MD who attends Gilman. Medium, compact frame with some strength proportioned throughout and room to add as he matures. Recorded a 7.21 second sixty-yard dash time. Primary outfielder with aggressive actions into the fielding process, fields out in-front and gathers fairly well into his transition. Maintains momentum into release and recorded arm strength up to 81 mph during drills. Secondary left-handed pitcher that worked exclusively from the stretch in this look. Simple, repeatable delivery with a slightly higher leg lift trigger and a deep, elongated arm circle. Fastball worked in the low-to-mid 70s for the duration of his outing and topped out at 75 mph from a higher, segmented arm action. Displayed developing control of the strike zone that will improve with proper mechanical adjustments and additional strength. Left-handed hitter that hits from an upright, even base with a an exaggerated high hand set and high back elbow. Incorporates a small leg lift trigger, a deep hand load and rotational lower half mechanics to get to launch. Showcased developing bat-to-ball skills, a flatter swing path that is in-and-out of the zone quickly. Displayed loud impact and strength in his hands when on-time and in-sync. Will continue to improve with proper swing adjustments and refinements. Excellent Student.
